4 Peanuts

President's annual salary adjusted to $2.5 million

Source
PARLIAMENT has approved an increase in the President's salary, which is also known as the Privy Purse, for the fiscal year 2005.

The salary will be revised to $2,507,200, an increase of $114,900 from the last adjustment in February last year.

A Ministry of Finance spokesperson said that the bonuses are higher because the economy has performed better than expected.

One month before that, Parliament had approved a $247,100 wage rise for the President, also in view of the restoration of cuts to his salary as well as higher projected bonuses.

In both those instances, changes had also been made to the other provisions under the Civil List, which specifies his allowance, the expenses of the Istana and the salaries of personal staff.

No other changes were proposed on Tuesday. The total expenditure in Class 1 of the Act, which consists of the Privy Purse, entertainment allowance and the Acting President's allowance, now stands at $2,627,800.

Anyone needs a godfather?

2500000/600000

Roughly 4 peanuts.
Now, i know why that who-who-who wife say $600k is a peasnut. Its really peasnut to them...

Thats about 200k per month..wonder what he needs to pay ...i think no need pay electricity, transport, food? Its almost everything for leisure!

Maybe my humble calculations can justify his pay. .
Postulate 1: Knowledge is power.
Postulate 2: Time is money.

As every engineer knows:
Power = Work/Time

And since
Knowledge = Power and Time = Money

It is therefore true that
Knowledge = Work/Money.

Solving for Money, we get:
Money = Work/Knowledge

Thus, as Knowledge approaches zero, Money approaches infinity, regardless of the amount of work done. .agree?

And for those interested to know...the comparsions in pay....

PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH - $400,000.00 (0.4 mil)

PRESIDENT NATHAN - $2,500,000.00 (2.5 mil)

NS is Killing S'poreans!!

As a small business owner who intends to support the employment of NSmen and Singaporeans, I am often forced to consider Permanent Resident passholders as they do not have to do reservist training.

Many NSmen have to attend three weeks of in-camp training yearly and this is very disruptive to a small business.

A business employs a person for his contribution to the company and while it does not have to pay the NSmen salary (it still has to contribute to the CPF), the company loses its potential income for the period of training.

Many companies will typically pay NSmen higher than PRs, but because of the 'disincentive', it is no longer viable. Larger companies can probably absorb the 'losses' but for how long and how many NSmen do they employ? Has it become more attractive to employ PRs or workers other than NSmen?

NSmen are essential for the security of our country but has the system put a penalty on our NSmen and turn them into a liability, especially to small companies?

Have the SAF studied various methods to compress the training and reduce the training period to reduce to the minimum the disruption to businesses?

Have the military men gone overboard with their plans for training to increase their importance without taking into consideration the economics involved?

In the first place, can these military men empathise with the business world when they have not operated a business in their lifetime?

Our employee with the 427th SAR recently went for a two-day stint that involved rehearsals for a parade to welcome the new commanding officer. Essential? You decide?

To all guys here i can roughly tell u all wat will be the reply from Min-DEAF MINDEF liao, that they recognize the problem and have since taken steps such as shorting ns cycle from 13yrs to 10 yrs blah blah but it WILL NOT solve the problem nor explain it, of call-ups which are totally unneccesary. oh wait. .and
the reply will always end with "thank you for your continue support of NS" ...... lying basturds

Jia lat...

We're going to be phased out soon...

NS is killing Singapore.

The name of "Budget Terminal"

they hosted a competition

they gave the winner $2000 and a handphone worth 1000 over bucks

they asked contestant to use their imagination, their creativity, their literature skill, to think of a good, nice, creative name for the new changi terminal 4, supposed to serve budget airlines

and the end, the name that won the competition is BUDGET TERMINAL... wtf, this is creative, imaginary?

can someone refresh my memory? correct me if i am wrong.
there was a simliar competition not too long ago; giving the Marina South a name....after spending $400k...the name decided is . . . .well . .still Marina Bay....think some ang mo walk away laughing all the way to the bank.

i guessed there must be 1001 entries with budget terminal and the lucky one got picked... Today (the newspaper) reported that there're 44 entries which suggested "Budget Terminal" as the name. However, the boy got the prize bcoz his reasoning for suggesting the name is the best among the 44 entries and this sort of name naming competition has definitely ruffled some feathers along the way.

If u ask me i will probably call it
No-Frills Terminal (NFT). Sounds even better then budget terminal.... then can sell all those no-frill brand groceries. Wait a minute. . .why not 'NO SIGNBOARD TERMINAL'? THen can ask the no signboard seafood to set up a branch there as well. .and sell our famous black pepper crab to the tourists!

Actually there is nothing wrong with the name "Budget Terminal", but something is wrong when it is chosen from a COMPETITION which was supposed to choose the most creative, imaginary....

And the cycle goes on. . . .

Exercise-Failure-on-a- rainy day

LOL... you all watch CNA? ya..i wanna laugh...ppl just take their time to get out
but according to CNA, its "Everyone are calm and move in an orderly manner..."

Trust me, if its the right deal, we will be running like a bunch of headless chickens....

Who will go down to Marina Bay MRT @ 6.30am.
Nothing to eat, nothing to shop.
Go there so early for what.
Fly kite ahhh...

This exercise is a Joke.

Thks for the Government , create this Joke of the day.

On a serious note, I really doubt the effectiveness of such drills.

Even if it's the real thing people will think it's fake and carry on doing their stuff. This is the result of us having too many drills and too many exercises that we don't know when it's happening and when it's not.

I'll give you an example.

Most of us would have experience fire alarm in shoppin centres going off. Did anyone ever panic?? Not a single soul. That's what has happened to our society. We've become so numbed to the sound of alarms that we no longer take it seriously.

I'm sure you've experienced the scenario where the nationwide siren goes off and somehow or rather you didn't know that there was a drill that day. Did you bother to stop what you're doing and hide?

I certainly did not.

Kick Ass photos!!

Check out these kick-ass photos which I took with the girlfriend's kickass Digital SLR Camera, the Nikon D70

They looks so professionally taken!
The food pictures turns out exactly how we always see them in the menus!

I lurrrve it!!

My Boss

A Great Boss

You communicate what I need to accomplish
Your expectations, and what being great looks like
This helps me succeed and my career flourish
And feeds my inner motivations and psyche.

Having you to talk to is important to me
Sometimes I just need to vent
It is comforting that you don't get angry
When I complain with good intent.

It is nice to win, to succeed, to prevail
In the face of huge-ass sized barriers
Thanks for ensuring we do not derail
On the way to becoming better people.

A great boss knows all these things
And makes team success a top priority
You make a difference and improve work's meaning
And for that I thank you whole heartedly!

I just have to say I am goin to lose a great boss, friend, mentor and colleague very soon.

To him, I would like to say a very big thank you for givng me the chance to prove myself and my worth.

You are the one that overlook my mistakes and compliment me for my work.

Thank you for imparting to me all your valuable experience and advices. I will always remember them in my heart.

Thank you for all the effort to motivate the whole team to work together.

Thank you for being the great boss, friend, mentor and colleague that you are.

You will b greatly missed. .

Regards,
Eugene

Adios 2005

How was 2005 for you? For some, it was horrible but to some, "never-ending". And prehaps at times it appeared that this year has been difficult.

But to me, this year has been fantastic. I have never travelled so much in a single year, new job, made new friends, fallin in love all over again. .as I look back the year in pictures and remember the good times, come celebrate with me, as we usher in 2006.

Auld Lang Syne to 2005.

Let 2006 be the best year yet.
